The School House: an Old Schoolhouse Reborn near Tyrella Beach

Schools out for autumn, and this one is staying out for good. The School House at 23 Carricknab Road, Ballykinler, is exactly what its name suggests: an old schoolhouse near Tyrella Beach, reimagined as a characterful family home. We filmed it hot off the press, with the season turning and the Co Down light doing half the work for us.

There is a particular pleasure in capturing a building with a past. The original schoolhouse bones give the home a story most new builds cannot buy, and the reworked interior, designed by BGA Architects and dressed by Property Staging NI, plays the old against the new beautifully. Our job was to let a buyer feel both the heritage and the comfort in a single watch.

Commissioned by Colin Graham Residential, the tour was built to do what stills cannot: carry the flow of the rooms, the proportions and the setting close to the coast. A property like this rewards a property video tour that moves at the pace of a real walk-through, so a buyer browsing from anywhere can picture life inside.
