An Architect-Designed Farmhouse on an Acre, Filmed in Summer Light

Published 17 June 2026

Phantom property film still of a contemporary detached farmhouse-style home set on an acre of lawn and paddock near Holywood

Some homes are built to be lived in slowly, and they ask to be marketed the same way. This one is a contemporary detached home in the farmhouse style, extending to around 4,200 square feet and set on roughly an acre of lawn and paddock. It was designed by the award-winning McGonigle McGrath Architects, and it reached the market this midsummer with Rodgers and Browne.

A house on an acre photographs very differently in June. The grass is full, the light stays late, and the gap between the building and its land is the whole point of the design. We planned the shoot to use that: long evening shadows across the lawn, the paddock running off behind the house, and the architecture reading clearly against an open sky rather than crowding the frame. A flat midday gallery would have flattened exactly what makes the place worth seeing.

This is the kind of listing that belongs on the Holywood, Cultra and the Gold Coast, where buyers are often deciding from a screen before they ever arrive at the gate. For an architect-designed home like this, a cinematic property film carries the lifestyle and the sense of space, while considered architectural photography holds the detail the design earns.

A home this carefully made deserves marketing built to match it.
